West High Boys’ Soccer Persists despite Lack of Coach

It’s safe to say that the West High boys soccer team is not having the easiest time of things right now.  For one thing, the team is currently experiencing a complete turnover of its coaching staff.  When asked about that, player Erick Zar said, “I believe we needed that, to be honest.  Our players were not clicking with the coaches we had.  They did a good job, but I do believe that we need to move on.”  About the now departed coaches, starting forward Alfonso Amezquita stated, “I think it’s very sad since they were here since I started.  I wish them nothing but the best in life.”

So, what’s next for the West High boys soccer team?  Erick Zar says, “The goal is to win the region and get to a state championship.  I believe that we have the talent to do that, but it all has to start in the classroom.”  Kenny Rivera believes that “…great things are coming from the West team.  Our players are improving a lot individually and also as a team. While the school board is still out looking for a new coach..

The boys would not still around waiting for a new coach to arrive to take charge of their own futures on the field.  Larence Vigil said, “I am currently playing club soccer to improve every day, and I have also been hitting the gym to get some muscle on.”  In the next few weeks, conditioning and lifting have to start up, but under who?  Who will be the coach who will step up and do their best for our boys team?  Kenny Rivera for one hopes that the new coach will be intense.  “I want our new coaches to be more strict and intense , I’m looking forward to having intense practices that will take this team to the next level.”  This spring, soccer season will start up once again, and the question on everyone’s mind is, “Who?”  Who will guide this group of boys who are hungry to win?
