On Homecoming Friday, September 24, the West High Football Team trounced Taylorsville, winning 42-10. The Panthers got off to a roaring start, leading 42-0 going into the second half. Senior Quarterback Karson Lopati had 3 completions for 101 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Isaiah Suesue went 4 for 5 for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns. Junior powerhouse Sesi Vailahi racked up 13 rushing yards and 72 receiving yards, the most total yards from a non-quarterback. Junior Linebacker Kymani Lautaimi led the Panther Defense with 6 tackles, including 2 for loss. Senior Teki Mahe had a fumble recovery for a touchdown for the Panthers as well. The Panthers are currently first in their region, with Kearns and Granger still to play. Half-time was mostly dominated by a massive chalk throw in the student section to celebrate the game, and to put a cap on Homecoming week.
